Namibia has 86 communal conservancies(CC’s) and 43 community forests(CF’s) and leads the way in Africa with regard to innovative community conservancy methodologies. An opportunity to invest in PES(Payment for Ecosystems) services schemes on these conservancies is currently being driven by the Namibian government, with the goal of diversifying existing hunting and tourism revenues into a broader community-based conservation strategy. Innovative finance solutions are required from investors and donors.
